Our privacy approach

Real Brotherhood is designed to minimize the amount of personal information you need to share. You do not need to provide your real name or a profile photo to use the core app experience. We aim to collect only the information we need to operate the service, secure accounts, improve the product, and support users.

1. Information we collect

A. Information you provide directly

  • Your screen name or auto-generated username
  • Optional profile details you choose to add, such as first name, age range, or faith background
  • Messages, replies, reactions, validations, group joins, group creation details, and other content you submit inside the app
  • Information you send to us through support requests, email, contact forms, or feedback
  • If you choose to create a passcode recovery option, the credentials needed to enable that login method

B. Account and authentication information

To provide anonymous accounts, we create and maintain technical account records such as an internal account ID, session tokens and authentication state, and recovery login credentials if you choose to set them up.

If you enable sign-back-in access, we may store a hidden recovery login identifier tied to your account so you can later sign in with your screen name and passcode. This recovery identifier is used only for authentication.

C. Usage and device information

  • App events and feature usage
  • Device type, operating system, app version, and basic diagnostic information
  • IP address and approximate network/location information derived from technical requests
  • Crash logs, error logs, and performance data
  • Timestamps for account activity, sign-in, content creation, and usage events

D. Website information

  • Browser type and device information
  • IP address
  • Pages viewed, referral source, and basic analytics
  • Information submitted through forms or email links

2. How we collect information

We collect information directly from you when you create or update an account, join groups, send messages, or contact us; automatically through the app, website, server logs, analytics, and security systems; and from service providers that help us run the Services, such as infrastructure, authentication, hosting, and analytics vendors.

3. How we use information

  • Create and maintain anonymous accounts
  • Operate support groups, chat, reactions, validations, and notifications
  • Let users sign back in if they choose to enable a recovery login
  • Personalize parts of the experience, such as group recommendations or onboarding
  • Improve safety, reliability, moderation, fraud prevention, and abuse detection
  • Provide customer support and respond to requests
  • Monitor performance, debug issues, and improve the Services
  • Meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms

We do not require your real name to use the core service.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in the following limited ways:

  • Service providers: with vendors that help us operate the Services, such as authentication, database, hosting, infrastructure, analytics, and developer tooling providers
  • Within the app: your screen name, messages, validations, and group activity are visible to other members in the groups where you participate
  • Legal and safety reasons: if required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect rights, safety, users, or the public
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or sale of assets
  • With your direction: when you choose to share information through system sharing tools or direct support requests

We do not share user data with third parties for cross-app or cross-site targeted advertising unless we clearly disclose that change and update this Privacy Policy.

5. Data retention

We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, maintain security, resolve disputes, comply with law, and enforce agreements.

  • Account and profile data are generally kept while your account remains active
  • Messages, group history, and validations may remain available to preserve conversation continuity and community integrity unless deleted under our retention or moderation rules
  • Technical logs, analytics, and diagnostics may be retained for shorter operational periods or longer if needed for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance
  • Backup copies may persist for a limited period after deletion

If you request deletion, we will process it in accordance with applicable law and our operational, legal, and safety obligations.

6. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information; withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; opt out of certain data uses if required by law; and appeal a denied privacy request where applicable.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you may have rights including the right to know, right to delete, right to correct, and right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights. We do not sell personal information.

To make a privacy request, contact us at joeapter@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

7. Anonymous accounts and sign-out

Real Brotherhood is designed for anonymous use. If you use the app without enabling a sign-back-in method, signing out, clearing app data, or deleting the app may result in loss of access to that anonymous account.

If you choose to enable login recovery, you may be able to sign back in later using your screen name and passcode.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls, encryption in transit, and provider-level security measures. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If we become aware of a security incident involving your information, we will respond as required by applicable law.

9. Children's privacy

Real Brotherhood is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will review and address the issue.

10. International data transfers

If you access the Services from outside the country where our providers operate, your information may be transferred to and processed in other countries, including the United States or other jurisdictions where our vendors maintain systems.

11. Third-party services

Our Services may rely on third-party infrastructure providers, including for authentication and account management, database and real-time infrastructure, hosting and developer platform services, analytics and diagnostics, and app distribution through Apple App Store and Google Play. Those providers may process information on our behalf under their own privacy commitments.

12. Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or on the website. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Privacy Policy, to the extent permitted by law.
